Friday to Sunday on Long Pond
Come for the day if that is what works. Come for the whole weekend if you can.
The schedule
All times are Eastern, and all of them are on Maine time, which means we will start about five minutes late.
Friday · 6:00 pm
Welcome cookout at the camp. Completely casual — come in whatever you drove up in. There will be too much food.
Saturday · 3:30 pm
Ceremony, outside, down by the water. Please be seated by 3:20. It is a short walk across grass from the parking area.
Saturday · 4:15 pm
Cocktails on the lawn while we go take photos. Stay outside as long as the weather lets you.
Saturday · 6:00 pm
Dinner in the barn. Seating chart is by the door.
Saturday · 8:00 pm
Dancing until 11:00, when the barn has to go quiet. It is a residential pond and we would like to be invited back.
Sunday · 9:00 am
Send-off breakfast at the camp before you drive home. Drop in whenever you are up.
What to wear
The ceremony and cocktails are both on grass. Block heels or flats will treat you better than stilettos, and you will still look wonderful.
If it rains, everything simply moves into the barn and nothing else changes. We will send a note the morning of if that happens.
Getting to the barn
From Route 27 in Belgrade Lakes village, take the west shore road along Long Pond for 2.4 miles. You will pass a boat launch on your right. Keep going.
After the second bridge, look for the white barn set back on the left with the string lights already on. The driveway comes up fast — if you reach the general store you have gone about half a mile too far.
Phone service gets thin about ten minutes before you arrive. Load your directions before you leave the village.
Parking, kids and a few practicalities
Parking
In the mowed field to the right of the driveway. Someone will wave you in. Leaving a car overnight is completely fine — plenty of people will.
Kids
Yes, absolutely, bring them. There is a lot of grass and a lot of room to run. The dock is off limits without a grown-up.
Shuttle
A shuttle runs from the Waterville hotels at 2:30 pm and back at 11:15 pm. Tell us on your RSVP if you want a seat.
Bugs
Mid-September is usually past the worst of it, but it is still Maine and it is still a pond. There will be spray at the bar.
Service
Patchy at best out there. There is wifi in the barn and the password is on the tables.
If it rains
Everything moves into the barn. Same times, same everything. No decision is needed from you.
